What We Help With At Houston Theapy
Meaningful change often begins with understanding what is happening, why certain patterns keep repeating, and what kind of support may help.
Houston Therapy provides evidence-based, personalized therapy for adults, teens, couples, families, college students, and professionals. We offer in-person therapy at our Houston office and telehealth appointments throughout Texas.
Our clinicians work with a broad range of emotional, behavioral, relational, and cognitive concerns. Below are some of the issues we treat most often. If you do not see your specific concern listed, please contact Houston Therapy. Our intake coordinator can help you determine whether one of our therapists is a good fit or direct you toward another appropriate resource.
Anxiety, Panic, and Chronic Stress
Anxiety
Anxiety can involve persistent worry, physical tension, racing thoughts, avoidance, irritability, or a constant sense that something is about to go wrong. Our therapists help clients better understand their anxiety, reduce its effect on daily life, and develop practical tools for responding to stress.
Panic Attacks
Panic attacks can feel sudden, frightening, and difficult to control. Therapy can help you understand the panic cycle, reduce fear of future attacks, and gradually feel more comfortable in situations you may have started avoiding.
Insomnia and Sleep Problems
Chronic insomnia can affect mood, memory, concentration, relationships, and work performance. Houston Therapy offers Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia, also known as CBT-I. This structured, non-medication treatment can help people fall asleep more easily, stay asleep longer, and develop healthier patterns around sleep.
Depression, Mood, and Grief
Depression
Depression can affect motivation, energy, concentration, self-esteem, relationships, and the ability to enjoy daily life. Therapy can help clients understand the emotional and behavioral patterns connected to depression while building healthier coping strategies and a stronger sense of direction.
Bipolar Disorder
Our therapists work with people who have bipolar disorder, have recently received a diagnosis, or are trying to better understand patterns of mood instability. Treatment may focus on recognizing changes in mood, improving emotional regulation, strengthening relationships, reducing shame, and developing routines that support greater stability.
Grief and Loss
Grief may follow the death of a loved one, the end of a relationship, a major health change, the loss of a career, or another meaningful transition. Therapy provides space to process the loss, understand its emotional impact, and begin finding a path forward while respecting what mattered.
Trauma and PTSD
Trauma and PTSD
Traumatic experiences can continue to affect emotions, relationships, sleep, attention, physical reactions, and a person’s sense of safety long after the event has ended. Our therapists use evidence-informed approaches to help clients process trauma, reduce symptoms of PTSD, and regain a greater sense of control.
Complex PTSD
Complex PTSD can develop after prolonged, repeated, or relational trauma. It may involve chronic shame, emotional overwhelm, people-pleasing, difficulty trusting others, dissociation, unstable relationships, or a persistent feeling of being unsafe. Therapy can help clients understand how these patterns developed and begin building a more stable and connected life.
ADHD, Executive Functioning, and Autism
ADHD
ADHD can affect attention, motivation, emotional regulation, organization, time management, relationships, and self-esteem. Houston Therapy provides both ADHD therapy and comprehensive psychological assessment for adolescents and adults.
Therapy may include practical strategies for managing daily responsibilities as well as deeper work around shame, perfectionism, relationships, identity, and long-standing emotional patterns.
Executive Functioning
Executive functioning skills help us plan, organize, prioritize, regulate emotions, begin tasks, and follow through on responsibilities. We help adolescents and adults who struggle with procrastination, disorganization, overwhelm, inconsistent motivation, time management, and difficulty completing tasks.
Adult Autism
Houston Therapy provides affirming, autism-informed therapy for adults. Our clinicians help autistic and neurodivergent adults address sensory overload, masking, autistic burnout, relationships, workplace stress, emotional regulation, identity, and executive functioning.
Adults who are exploring whether they may be autistic can also learn more about our adult autism testing and assessment services.
