Therapeutic Approach
The relationship we have with ourselves is the longest and most important relationship we will ever experience. I view therapy as an investment in that relationship.
My approach is grounded in curiosity, openness, and reflection. I work collaboratively with clients through open ended exploration that supports the development of greater self awareness and emotional understanding. While insight and cognitive clarity are important, meaningful change often emerges through deeper emotional work, including paying attention to what unfolds in the therapeutic relationship itself.
Together, we explore longstanding patterns that may operate outside of awareness. As these patterns become clearer, clients often experience not only increased insight, but also greater freedom in how they relate to themselves and others.
I strive to create a space where all aspects of you are welcome. I believe transformation begins when we feel safe enough to be honest, vulnerable, and emotionally present. Therapy is not about fixing what is broken, but about understanding what has been carried, and discovering new ways of being.
I am a dedicated lifelong learner and continually work to deepen my clinical practice. This commitment is reflected in my extensive postgraduate training, including completion of a two year advanced psychodynamic psychotherapy program and my current participation in a four year psychoanalytic training program. My ongoing education informs a thoughtful, relational, and depth oriented approach to care.
I bring nearly a decade of experience in the mental health field, including advanced postgraduate training.
Background
I received my Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Houston. During graduate training, I interned with Brené Brown’s organization, The Daring Way, where I developed a strong interest in the impact of shame on mental health and the cultivation of shame resilience.
Following graduate school, I was selected for a competitive postgraduate fellowship at the Menninger Clinic and later joined their outpatient program as a clinician. Through this work, I gained extensive experience supporting individuals navigating complex emotional and relational concerns.
My primary orientation is psychodynamic, emphasizing insight, emotional depth, and relational understanding. At the same time, I believe therapy should be tailored to each individual, and I integrate approaches as needed to best support your unique goals.
I have worked with clients facing a wide range of challenges, including depression, anxiety, shame, relational difficulties, attachment trauma, life transitions, personality disorders, and grief.
Practice Information
I work with adults of all ages. I believe healing occurs within relationships, and the therapeutic relationship itself is a central part of the process. Finding the right therapeutic fit is an important part of beginning therapy and often unfolds over the course of several sessions. To help determine whether we might be a good match and whether it feels right to schedule an initial appointment, I offer a complimentary fifteen minute consultation.
My approach is exploratory and relational rather than prescriptive. If you are seeking a more directive or skills based form of therapy, I am happy to help connect you with a provider whose approach may be a better fit.
