About Kristina

Dr. Kristina Nunez is a licensed psychologist at Houston Therapy in Houston, Texas (Texas License #39405; California License #PSY34368). She holds a Psy.D. and M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Adler University in Chicago, Illinois, where her graduate training was accredited by the American Psychological Association. She also holds an additional M.A. in Clinical Psychology from The Illinois School of Professional Psychology and a B.S. in Psychology from Indiana State University.

Dr. Nunez completed her pre-doctoral internship in Counseling and Psychiatry at the University of South Carolina and her post-doctoral fellowship at the Eating Recovery Center in Houston, Texas, where she developed specialized expertise in treating mild to severe eating disorders, including Exposure Response Prevention interventions and Emotion Focused Family Therapy for families and couples.

She has experience working across inpatient hospitalization programs, university counseling centers, and private practice settings, providing both psychological testing and psychotherapy to individuals from diverse backgrounds. Dr. Nunez is currently seeing clients virtually only.

My Approach

My therapeutic approach can be described as thoughtful, collaborative, and multicultural. I firmly believe that people are experts of their own lives and experiences. As such, I take extreme care to respect each individual's unique identities, experiences, and perspectives as I work alongside them to help them grow.

My goal is to create a safe space for you to show up authentically, so we may work together to develop a treatment plan specific to your therapeutic and personal goals. I will use my training and knowledge to provide therapeutic recommendations and techniques to help guide you toward meaningful progress.
