Jackie Perin, LPC

Licensed Professional Counselor

About me

Reaching out for help when life gets overwhelming can be the hardest part of the therapeutic journey.  Understanding how scary it can be, I strive to provide a safe and supportive environment so that we can work together to find more helpful ways of coping with life’s struggles.

My hope is to help reduce all forms of suffering by helping my clients explore their thoughts, feelings and behaviors in order to gain more insight about themselves and to find more adaptive approaches to managing their lives and interpersonal relationships.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate and hold a Masters of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of St. Thomas in Houston, TX.  I work with adults, couples, and families struggling with depression, anxiety, addiction, trauma and family of origin issues.  I work primarily from a psychodynamic theoretical approach but am certified in DBT and have significant training in various CBT approaches.

Background

Jackie Perin has always been drawn to helping people in need, both physically and psychologically.  She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications from the University of Texas – Austin and an Associate’s Degree in Nursing from San Jacinto College.

She worked as a registered nurse in 1992 and spent over twenty years focusing on patients with chronic cardiovascular diseases.   She spent almost a decade at Johnson and Johnson working on clinical trials with for the treatment of end stage congestive heart failure.  Through this work she became acutely aware of the mental health issues facing those with chronic illness which prompted her to seek additional training in counseling.

Jackie has experience working with addiction, attachment trauma, identity issues, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and sexual trauma in both the individual and group setting. Jackie’s philosophy is that client’s need unconditional positive regard in order to develop trust and she works to create a strong therapeutic alliance.

She aims to meet clients where they are at when they seek treatment and utilizes a variety of therapeutic approaches that help to relieve their distress and create more adaptive thinking and coping skills.  She is especially interested in psychodynamic approaches and is currently a trainee at the Center for Psychoanalytic Studies.

Rates: $200 for 50 minute session

The above rate is the full fee this therapist charges for a standard 50 minute session. However, we do not want cost to be prohibitive of people getting the help they need. All of our therapists provide a portion of their services for a reduced fee to help those who can benefit from psychotherapy but might not be able to afford their full fee.
