About me

Sometimes in life we find ourselves feeling lost or stuck or maybe we have experienced a great loss or trauma. While friends and family can offer support and solace during these times, developing a relationship with the right therapist can offer a unique and safe space to work through these problems in a way that can’t always be done with loved ones.

I take an integrative and non-judgmental approach with my clients and create a safe and nurturing environment for my clients to explore and grow. I am trained in DBT skills as well as EMDR. I often use a holistic and person-centered approach.

Background

My main passion is working with the LGBTQ community. My areas of interest include grief work, trauma, dissociative disorders, ADHD, HIV, depression, anxiety, and recovery from narcissistic abuse. I have also received training with Dr. Doug Braun-Harvey in Sexual Health in Recovery. I take a sex-positive approach and enjoy working with folks in polyamorous and non-monogamous relationships, as well as members of the kink community.

For the first five years of my career, I worked at the Montrose Center, where I worked primarily with the LGBTQ community. I have worked with survivors of trauma, people struggling with addiction, coming out issues, and people living with HIV.

I have also had the opportunity to work with transgender clients as they explore their gender identity and have written letters for clients as needed to access gender-affirming services. Prior to that, I was a research coordinator with Texas Children’s Hospital in their pediatric psychiatric department.

I received my M.Ed. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Houston. While there, I worked as a research assistant, studying minority stress, internalized homophobia, and coping and resilience within the LGBTQ community.

While I work mostly with adults, I do work with people ages sixteen and older.

I offer a free fifteen-minute consultation to see if we are a good for each other. If we are not a good match, I can offer you referrals for therapists who might be a better fit.

Rates: $210 for 50 minute session

I offer the option of an eighty-minute session for $280 for EMDR.

The above rate is the full fee this therapist charges for a standard 50 minute session. However, we do not want cost to be prohibitive of people getting the help they need. All of our therapists provide a portion of their services for a reduced fee to help those who can benefit from psychotherapy but might not be able to afford their full fee.
